1.   Oversee and control the local and remote operation of hydroelectric power plants with generators, pumps, and gates.&lt;?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /&gt;
2.   Must control the operation of multiple hydroelectric generating facilities on all three river basins and have the ability to move to a back up location under emergency operating conditions.
3.   Must be able to handle stressful conditions, think clearly, assess situations, and make appropriate decisions.
4.   Monitor, receive, and acknowledge hydro station alarms. Determine and evaluate emergency conditions and take actions as necessary, including calling out appropriate personnel and notifying supervisors.
5.   Make initial emergency response calls/contacts for all stations (i.e. FPDC, EAP, SPCC, Fire Department).
6.   Make special computations in connection with the use of water for generation facilities on the rivers to meet license conditions &amp; regulatory requirements for all stations such as pond levels, minimum flows, generator efficiency, environmental requirements, and reliability standards etc.
7.   Direct the work and assist training lower rated employees.
8.   Maintain all pertinent records and station logs regarding switching, generation, metering, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
9.   Interfaces directly with ISO-NE, FPDC, CMP System Operations, Energy management, &amp; RHOM for scheduling, forecasting and operation of units in accordance with ISO rules and daily bid including redeclarations. 
10. Designs and directs system switching operations and in house clearance isolations for the safety of plant workers.
11. Perform other duties as required.
1.   Approved two-year technology degree or equivalent Hydro power plant operating experience or RCC operating experience.&lt;?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /&gt;
2.   Must have proficient computer skills, demonstrate multifunctional behavior and have effective communication skills, oral &amp; written.
3.   Must have a valid&lt;?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /&gt;Mainedriver’s license and a safe driving record. Must also hold or be able to qualify for any licenses or permits required for the operation of hydro equipment.
4.   Must have a thorough knowledge of the company’s operating standards, high water guidelines, EAP’s, in plant switching procedures, policies, safety and environmental regulations and directives pertaining to the assignment.
5.   Must have a thorough knowledge of all applicable local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the work and ensure compliance with all license and other regulatory restrictions and perform the work accordingly.
6.   Must have a thorough knowledge of the NextEra Safety Instructions, which affect the work being performed, and perform the work accordingly.
7.   Must be able to perform the skills of the operations, RCC skill set, and one maintenance skill set (M/E/I); or operations, RCC skill set and (2) two PT skills (M/E/I). The successful candidate must obtain a Hydro Operations skill set and the RCC skill set, or one maintenance skill set (M/E/I) or (2) two PT skills (M/E/I) within one year (or equivalent) of the start date. Note: The Company may hire a candidate at a lower qualification level than specified in this posting.
8.   Must be able to respond to off-hour callouts and work reasonable amount of overtime in shift coverage.
9. * Performs the duties and has the abilities to function as a Shift  Production Technician.
* Perform maintenance activities to the degree the individual is qualified and in a safe manner.
* Executes Clearance Permits as required under the direction of the Shift Plant Leader.
* Proficient in the areas of power plant operations &amp; associated auxiliary equipment used in fossil generating stations.
* Proficient in the ability to interpret power generation systems, procedures and drawings with ability to learn and operate existing &amp; new systems.
* Monitors performance to identify operating characteristics, take necessary actions to prevent or limit failure, optimize efficiency, identify root cause and implement countermeasures.
* Understands and follows procedures for compliance with all environmental regulations.
* Assist the Shift Plant Leader in other assigned duties and work closely with the Production Assurance Staff, in the installation, maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of Fossil power generating equipment.
* Must have aptitude for mechanical, instrument &amp; control and/or electrical skills (M/E/I) and be able to qualify and perform the duties of one full Skill Set (M/E/I) or two PT Skill Sets (M/E/I).
* Must be able to respond to off-hour callouts, work a reasonable amount of overtime, and be able to work on a 12 hr rotating shift.
* Good communications skills, oral/written &amp; basic computer skills.
* Must have the ability to obtain a State of&lt;?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /&gt;Maine High Pressure Boiler Operators License. (Note: Boiler Operator Training Permits are required for 6 months, prior to taking the exam for High Pressure Boiler Operators License, which are issued by the State).Approved (2) or (4) Year relevant technology/BS degree or equivalent power generation/heavy industrial experience.&lt;?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /&gt;
