The NextEra Energy Innovation Team is responsible for the development of experimental, innovative projects both inside and outside of normal business unit priorities, with a stated goal of changing the energy industry by creating new experiences around the customer and our businesses. Members of the Innovation team are tasked with researching, identifying, developing, prioritizing, and testing new and innovative opportunities for continued growth, and for driving change throughout the organization. In this role, you will be responsible for running our edge computing strategy at the NextEra Energy Innovation Labs. This position is uniquely suited to a self-starter with a deep understanding of IoT devices. Innovation team and IT priorities must be aligned to the priorities of NEE business units as we seek to create a repeatable process that drives innovation and creates business value. Candidates with the following experience will be highly considered:

  • Strong interest in data, physics, sensors, mesh networks, radio networks
  • Experience in a start-up or entrepreneurial venture, passion in technology or innovations is a plus
  • Excellent data analysis skills and experience working with multiple data-sets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a very strong attention to detail with the ability to turn data/results into a story
  • Ability to work well under pressure, juggle multiple tasks, and work efficiently
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new responsibilities
  • Ability to structure ambiguity and think creatively
  • Ability to collaborate, work as part of a team, and build credibility
  • Collaborate with our end users, internal stakeholders, and external partners to develop and deliver high value innovative concepts and solutions
  • Work with solution partners and identify opportunities to collaborate; travel to partner sites, customer sites, innovation conferences
  • Conduct external and internal assessments of the business environment, competition, customers, market trends, and the implications to the business

Job Overview This position develops and integrates new or existing applications into the technical infrastructure and existing business processes. Employees in this role provide technical or functional guidance to project or work teams, as needed within a specific discipline.

Job Duties & Responsibilities • Designs, codes, tests, debugs and documents programs, and maintains a full knowledge of systems analysis and programming • Develops customized programming solutions, and maintains existing system functionality • Devises or modifies procedures to solve straight-forward problems, and prepares specifications from which programs will be written • Applies appropriate development methodologies, system development lifecycles, tools and technology • Collaborates on an on-going basis with the Business Systems Analyst • Participates in the ticket management and resolution processes, including receiving, resolution monitoring and customer satisfaction • Leads projects when needed • Builds strong working understanding of the solution being delivered • Ensures user satisfaction by providing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of more complex problems • Follows and participates in the defined Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Sarbanes Oxley (Sox) compliance, and General Computing Controls • Defines metrics and monitors Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for systems being developed • Meets daily, weekly and monthly reporting requirements • Performs other job-related duties as assigned Required Qualifications • High School Grad / GED • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience • Experience:3+ years Preferred Qualifications • Web Technologies • Information Coding Standards • Programming • Strategic Planning
