Position Specific Description The Load Forecasting Analyst position is part of Load Forecasting team within Florida Power and Light Company’s Financial Planning and Analysis group, located in Juno Beach, FPL. Florida Power and Light Company (FPL), a subsidiary of NextEra Energy, Inc., is the third-largest electric utility in the United States, serving approximately 4.9 million customer accounts or an estimated 10 million people across nearly half of the state of Florida.
The Load Forecasting Analyst is responsible for assisting in the preparation of FPL’s long-term forecasts of electric sales, peak demand, and customer count, and for preparing daily, monthly, and quarterly reports related to how the forecasts are performing. The position requires skills in data analysis and familiarity with economics and statistics.
Other duties include:
- Runs, reviews and analyzes long-term load forecasts
- Prepares reports on economic indicators for executive management
- Supports various business units throughout the company with forecasting analysis
- Leads efforts to review and validate data inputs into the long-term forecasting model and works with cross-functional teams to correct data errors in source systems
- Work closely with team members in Financial Planning & Analysis and the Financial Center of Excellence in explaining forecast changes and forecast variances
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Business or similar field. MBA or graduate degree preferred.
